Also starting tomorrow, site visitors will for the first time be able to search the BBC's entire program catalogue as far back as 1937.

(Page 1)2. therre should be no surprise here. The BBC owns the richest library of media assets anywhere on the planet. It already syndicates drama series to a number of Sky channels.
Given Time Warner is worth $78bn, what price for the BBC assets? $200bn? but it's at risk of losing its license fee and state protection.
I can forsee circumstances where government frames alw that allows the BBC to become fully commercial without losing its ad free status. If that happens then therer is no reason why BBC wouldn't acquire The Guardian - another bastion of forward thinking media.

1. That sounds pretty major for the BBC, good on them! The comparison to MySpace just doesn't work in my head (the BBC full of naked 16 year olds?), but the content they hope to bring in is a fantastic idea. Given the size of the site I gather they're going to need a lot of moderation!
